Loud, brash, and outspoken, Pink has been shaking things up on the music scene for ten years. Drawing on interviews and performance footage, and with contributions from leading music critics, A LIFE LESS ORDINARY delves behind the hype, revealing the story of a talented, ambitious girl from Pennsylvania who went on to become a global pop sensation, two-time Grammy winner, and style icon.
PINK: “watched a very interesting documentary last night called “race to nowhere” about the education system in America. Absolutely fascinating.”
Race to Nowhere (2009)
85 min – Documentary – 10 September 2010 (USA)
Storyline
RACE TO NOWHERE is a close-up look at the pressures on today’s students, offering an intimate view of lives packed with activities, leaving little room for down-time or family time. Parents today are expected to raise high-achieving children, who are good at everything: academics, sports, the arts, community-service. The film tackles the tragic side of our often achievement-obsessed culture, with interviews that explore the hidden world of over-burdened schedules, student suicide, academic cheating, young people who have checked out. RACE TO NOWHERE asks the question: Are the young people of today prepared to step fully and productively into their future? We hear from students who feel they are being pushed to the brink, educators who worry students aren’t learning anything substantive, and college professors and business leaders, concerned their incoming employees lack the skills needed to succeed in the business world: passion, creativity, and internal motivation. PINK: ALRIGHT… because paparazzi of today have absolutely no photograhic skill or artistry whatsoever, and their pictures are hideous…. I’m going to post a self-portrait I took yesterday morning for all of you asking to see belly shots. 3 wks of photo classes for me… and I am already a far better photographer than any one of them…..

IN THE PINK.
You people are all wet — and I mean that in the nicest possible way.
Last week, I asked for your questions about the GRAMMYs right here, and a bunch of you wanted to know all about Pink’s drippingly good, high-flying performance of “Glitter In The Air” on last year’s show. No, sunshinesally, Pink was definitely NOT lip-synching, and if you want to learn how to sing upside down, you’re probably going to have to go through the extensive training that Pink did. And yes, Holly Mackerel, she really was singing live, wet and suspended in the air.
Executive Producer Ken Ehrlich just reminded me that he had been totally blown away by Pink’s remarkable high-wire performance of the song when he went to check out her wildly ambitious and entertaining circus-themed Funhouse tour, and so smartly decided to bring some of those same thrills and chills to the GRAMMY show. As Ken told me, “Alecia (of course, Ken’s on a real first-name basis with Pink) is a really remarkable artist and entertainer, and her talent and hard work made that moment what it was, and so now that’s become one of those GRAMMY moments that people are still talking about a year later. We all live for those moments.”
Executive Producer John Cossette remembers being a little concerned when he first heard that Pink would be flying directly over the heads of our GRAMMY audience — hey we’re not a “Spider-Man” musical here — but notes that the moment was magical, thanks in part to director Louis J. Horvitz “shooting the hell out of it.” For his part, Louis J. told me that he too was so impressed with Pink’s strength as a performer and her professionalism.
As for how great the performance looked, “Pink deserves most of the credit,” says Louis J. “From my point of view directing the number, the real trick was to establish the sense of perspective and the relationship between where Pink was up in the rafters and the amazed audience down below. She was probably the most impressive performer I’ve worked with in a very long time.”
Tune in next week right here when I dry off my flopsweat and answer another one of your big GRAMMY questions — and then give you my big behind-the-scenes GRAMMY preview right before Music’s Biggest Night next Sunday.

Mom-to-be Pink and her husband, professional motocross racer Carey Hart, enjoy the beautiful day and go for a walk together on Thursday (February 3) in Malibu, Calif.
The 31-year-old singer’s latest single “F—in’ Perfect,” jumped 11-2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and is set to become Pink’s fourth #1 next week. Check out the music video in case you missed it!
The ad — part of the organization’s ‘Fur-Free and Fabulous’ campaign — will be unveiled Tuesday in L.A.
Sure, Lady Gaga’s infamous “meat dress” may have drawn the ire of PETA, but that hasn’t stopped the animal-rights organization from featuring her — along with fellow icons Pink and Mariah Carey — on a brand-new billboard, set to be unveiled Tuesday in Los Angeles.
It’s part of PETA’s “Fur-Free and Fabulous” campaign, and, despite the fallout over her Video Music Awards outfit, Gaga was chosen because, as PETA puts it in a press release, “Her anti-fur stance … has been unwavering.”
“Gaga’s out-there outfits never include real fur,” the statement continued. “Last year, when she wore a dress made of fluffy Kermit the Frog dolls, [she] explained, ‘I thought it was commentary on not wearing fur, ’cause I hate fur and don’t wear fur.’ ”
PETA also selected Pink and Carey for the billboard — which will be raised on the corner of Sunset Boulevard and La Brea Avenue in Los Angeles — because of their longtime anti-fur stances. Pink, who recently co-starred with comedian Ricky Gervais in PETA’s “Stolen for Fashion” video short, once allegedly called out Beyoncé for wearing fur, and Carey famously donated a pair of full-length Russian sable coats she had received as gifts to PETA, who, in turn, gave them to homeless women at their winter “fur kitchen” event.
With the new billboard, Gaga, Pink and Carey join a list of stars who have teamed with the organization to come out against fur. Last year’s “Fur-Free and Fabulous” ad featured Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey.
Pink has jokingly asked Bruno Mars to stop selling his new hit song Grenade, so that she can score a number 1.
The singer is currently at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with her latest track F**kin’ Perfect – taken from her Greatest Hits album.
Writing on her Twitter page this week, the outspoken pop star said: “F**kin Perfect is #1-digital chart, #2 on the Hot 100 (via Billboard). It’s also @Pink’s 11th top 10 hit.
“Damn you Bruno Mars! you’re lucky I love that song!!!! :),” she later joked, “Some1 just said if ‘F**kin Perfect’ goes to #1, it’ll b the only time that’s ever happened off a greatest hits. Please, Bruno? take ur song back.”
Pink recently defended the video for F**kin’ Perfect, after the promo caused controversy due to its shocking images and themes.
